Introduction: is written by David and is a kind of poem or prayer based on his close communion w/ God. He enjoys God’s presence very much and will let nothing deprive him from it (, ). His assurance is, God is my only good, and apart from him there is no good at all! He is my heart’s contentment; hope for all I do; Jesus, your’re the center of my joy!

Verse: When I’ve lost my direction, your’re the compass for my way;
Your’re the fire and light, when nights are long and cold;
In sadness, you are the laughter, that shatters all my fears;
When I’m all alone, your hand is there to hold......
Inseparable: (Read text— --- 11)
Chose not to be apart from him when living this life! Especially when facing life’s storms:
life line
compass
a strong hand
David was chosen by God early in his life and anointed by Samuel the prophet at God’s instruction to be Israel’s 2nd king. It wasn’t based upon external virtues: (looks, statue) but God looked at his heart! Although he made mistakes during his life, he understood god’s great compassion and mercy to restore ( … a, ,, ).
List reasons why I chose to be inseparable in him.....
God’s omniscience- foreknowledge— knows things before they are known to us! Nothing takes him by surprise or catches him off guard. — read portions vs. 1,2,3-10.
He foreordains— He decides in advance what will be, according to his purpose and will; (read portions)
David writes in this psalms vs. 2— apart from you my life is nothing, but with you, I can do all things. There are so many decisions to make Lord, daily, hourly, every minute. But I trust you with all my heart, () to maintain my lot!
Define this.... Whatever occurs during my life whether you foreordained it or permitted it, make it work out for my good. Love me through it, give me favor in it, hold me up if I become tired, and walk with me through it. Song, “whatever my lot, thou has taught me to say, it is well with my soul”. Apart from you, I can’t make it..... Maintain my lot.
Read verses 7-11
Summarize: key points— Inseparable--
Personalize— He is my contentment, happiness, during grief or night, joy coming, full and unspeakable, Lord, maintain my lot— my interest, family, children, thoughts, health...... my destiny… my times are in your hand.
